The goal of this project was to give program managers a single place to see what they needed and where their products stood.
Releasing software at large enterprise companies involves far more than writing code. Program managers at SAP had to track dependencies, fulfill corporate requirements, document releases, and coordinate across multiple teams each of which had its own tools and data sources.
There was no single place to see what was needed or what the current status was. Program managers had to move between multiple tools, manually copy information across them, and piece together a picture of where their program stood. The result was frustrated managers dealing with constant context switching and confused team members unsure what data needed to be collected and when.
I worked on UI and UX design for a tool that consolidated the information program managers needed into one place. The core design goal was giving the right data at the right moment so managers could make fast, confident decisions without having to chase information across tools. Documentation that had previously been done manually was automated, and the number of tools managers needed to visit was reduced to one.
Program managers gained a clear, consolidated view of their product's status. Decision making got faster and more reliable, and the manual overhead of tracking and documenting program information was significantly reduced.
